Professional Training
Last update: 9 January 2017
These professional training programmes are meant either to train researchers or academics in our approach or to compare our approach to those of other collectives working on participatory research methods. In the development world, these training programmes are targeted at managers, technicians of development services, elected officials and extension services (in the Global South as well as in the Global North).
They are also intended to explain the principles of companion modelling and to help trainees master the management of one or more of the collective exercises that mark out the process. Other programmes deal with the tools of environmental public policies and integrated management criteria.

Modélisation d'accompagnement
In continuing education, we initiate and offer INRA-CNRS-CIRAD researcher schools in collaboration with other units on the issues of complex systems modelling, companion modelling and resilience. These training programmes are conducted in France as also elsewhere in Europe in partnership with Wageningen University of Research (WUR) and the Forest Management and Development department of ETH, Zurich, and are also offered in the framework of Cirad’s research and teaching partnerships (DP) in adapted formats.

Multi-platform International Summer School on Agent-Based Modelling & Simulation for Renewable Resources Management
Since 1997, we have provided training on modelling and multi-agent simulation with Cormas to address issues concerning renewable resources management. In 2004-2006, training sessions were also offered in Southeast Asia as part of the Asia IT & C project.
In 2011, we introduced other multi-agent generic platforms, such as NetLogo and Gama, to offer a broader view on the design, implementation and execution of multi-agent models for the management of renewable resources. This multi-platform international training programme is conducted over two weeks each summer in Montpellier. Supervised by experienced personnel, participants can choose one of the offered platforms to develop their own multi-agent model.

Quantitative tools in agricultural economics: course material
The officers of ministries of agriculture do not always have in-depth knowledge of the quantitative tools used in economics. This course material provides a quick overview of existing tools. It offers an introduction to the quantitative tools that can be used to guide the agricultural sector, the type of issues they can address, the data needed, the main assumptions, their advantages and limitations, and references to further their knowledge.
Educational Note on Quantitative Tools in Economics (Funding for Research and Technology Exchange Group (GRET)).
