Masters courses
The purpose of offering French masters qualifications is to encourage students to continue their training through theses in France, on topics pertaining to the issues of development and environment in the Global South. It is also to host students from the Global South for co-tutelage theses in France, as a logical follow-up to the training.
The research unit is also involved in masters from several universities in the Global South, especially in those where its personnel are on assignment (University of Brasilia , University of Santa Maria in Brazil, Université d’Antananarivo–Ecole Supérieure des sciences Agronomiques (ESSA) , Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (UCAD). These interventions range from specialized teaching in masters programmes and supervision of masters students to the formulation of courses (especially in the framework of ESSA).
Doctoral schools
These courses in the countries of the Global South form an important part of the university courses delivered by the Green research unit. Their role in structuring research networks in the Global South (in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Mediterranean) continues to be decisive.
The courses are conducted by our researchers in universities and schools in France and abroad in complementary fields: geography, modelling techniques, companion modelling, environmental economics or sociology, and integrated approach to human activities and natural processes. The companion modelling approach is dominant in these courses because of high demand.
In France, the Green research unit is designated as the host team for four doctoral schools: Information Structures Systems doctoral school (I2S) , Agriculture Alimentation BIologie Environnement Santé doctoral school (ABIES). Biodiversité Agriculture Alimentation Environnement Terre Eau doctoral school (GAIA) , and law and political Sciences doctoral school (ED 461)
