Research issues and topics

The Green unit’s 2015-2019 project aims to respond to 6 issues and revolves around several research topics.

Six issues

Social issues

  • Promoting equitable access to renewable resources
  • Fostering science-society dialogue

Thematic issues

  • Analyzing the tensions between environmental conservation and development and the role of collective action
  • Analyzing the evolution of SES through the lens of adaptation and transformation

Methodological issues

  • Articulating viewpoints and integrating heterogeneous knowledge
  • Exploring the drafting of regulations and their policy dimensions

Scientific topics addressed

  • The sharing and articulation of local and academic knowledge on SES as a form of transdisciplinarity;
  • The use of participatory modelling (such as agent based modelling and role playing games) to understand the ‘multipolar’ processes of change;
  • The mobilization of public policy instruments and other management methods for designing governance mechanisms and analyzing their overall effects on the evolution of SES;
  • The impacts of support measures on the links between science and society.
